Functional prototype

Not just to look good to prove the product actually works

A part or an assembly you can put together, load and test under real conditions, before you commit to production.

What you get A functional part For fit, strength, assembly and field testing
  • ISO 9001:2015
  • File reviewed before production
  • Engineering materials for real use

Send a file and we will get back to you

Tell us what the part has to withstand and we will recommend a material and a technology.

A handsome model does not mean the product will work

This is what brings clients to a functional prototype:

Exactly what you get

  • A part in an engineering material A material chosen for the loads and the environment the part has to survive.
  • A complete assembly, not just a part Where needed we produce all the components and check how they actually fit together.
  • A file review with recommendations We find the weak points in the design before production, not after.
  • Matched to what you are testing The technology is chosen for the planned test: strength, flexibility, heat or accuracy.

How it works

  1. 1 Send a file and define the test What the part has to withstand: load, temperature, friction or fit.
  2. 2 Choose material and technology We recommend what will give a genuine answer to your test.
  3. 3 We produce and hand over With notes on anything we spotted in the design along the way.

A good fit if

  • You need to test function, not only appearance
  • There is an assembly with several parts
  • You are deciding on tooling or a series
  • The part has to hold up under real load

Less of a fit if

  • You only need to see the shape A rapid prototype is cheaper and faster. Details →
  • You need a handsome model for a presentation A presentation prototype is built for exactly that. Details →
  • You already need a full series Bridge production suits better. Details →

Frequently asked questions

Which materials are available?

Nylon, fibre-reinforced materials, elastomers, heat-resistant materials and metal. We will recommend based on the test you are planning.

Can you test a part that is meant to be injection moulded?

Yes. That is one of the most common reasons for a functional prototype - checking the design before ordering expensive tooling.

Do you assemble the unit as well?

Yes, you can receive the assembly built up. Assembly, inserts and finishing are done in house.

What if the part fails the test?

That is exactly the point. We will go through what broke and why with you, and that feeds the next version.
