Product assessment

Before you put more money into the product it pays to know where it really stands

Send an existing product, a file or an idea. We come back with a report telling you what is missing, what is risky and what the right next step is.

When it is not clear whether the product is ready to go on

The assessment is built for exactly these moments:

Exactly what you get

  • A written assessment report A document you can pass on to an investor, a partner or a supplier, not just a phone call.
  • A map of gaps and risks What is missing in order to move forward, and what could blow up later if it is not dealt with now.
  • A recommendation for the next step A prototype, a feasibility check, a design fix or straight to production, with the reasoning behind it.
  • An order-of-magnitude estimate What each route forward means in time and cost, so you can decide on the numbers.

How it works

  1. 1 Send whatever you have A CAD file, a drawing, photos of an existing product, or even a written description.
  2. 2 A short scoping call We work out what the product is meant to do, which market it is for, and what has already been tried.
  3. 3 You get the report We go through it together and explain every recommendation, so you know the why and not only the what.

A good fit if

  • You have an existing product, file or idea
  • You need an independent professional opinion
  • You are facing an investment decision
  • You are not sure what the right next step is

Less of a fit if

  • You already know what you need and just want the part You can go straight to a rapid prototype. Details →
  • The only open question is how to manufacture it A manufacturing feasibility check answers that directly. Details →
  • The product is in production and needs to cost less A cost reduction review aims exactly there. Details →

Frequently asked questions

I have no CAD file - can you still help?

Yes. You can send photos, a hand drawing, a physical sample or a description. Some assessments start from exactly that point.

Will my information stay confidential?

Yes. We work regularly with medical and defence companies and sign an NDA on request - just mention it when you get in touch.

What is the difference between a product assessment and an engineering review?

An assessment looks at the product as a whole and at the stage it has reached. An engineering review is a deep check of a finished design before you invest in production.

Do you also fix what you find?

Yes, but that is a separate stage. The report stands on its own and you are free to take it to any supplier.
