The check exists to prevent exactly these:

Tooling gets made, and only then does it turn out the part has to change.
The first series comes out with a high reject rate.
Files go to the supplier and every round brings back more questions and corrections.
The product works as a prototype, but nobody checked whether it can be made repeatably.

A readiness score A clear measure of how close the design is to being ready for production.
A list of risk points Everything that could fail in production, ranked by severity.
What to fix before you start A concrete list of actions, not general remarks.
A report to pass to the supplier A document you can send to the production supplier to close gaps in advance.

What does the score actually tell me?

It sums up how well the design meets the requirements of repeatable production. A low score is not a rejection - it is a map of what to close.

Do you check assemblies, or only a single part?

Both. If there is an assembly, we check the fits between the parts and the assembly order as well.

How is this different from an engineering review?

The score is a focused, fast check before an investment decision. An engineering review is the broader and deeper survey.

Can we be re-checked after we fix things?

Yes, and a repeat check after corrections is a good way to confirm you really closed what was flagged.
