Engineering consultation
Which prototype to build and what it actually has to prove
A professional consultation that settles what you build first, from which material, and what counts as success.
What you get
A consultation
A clear direction for the prototype, the material and the stages after it
- Engineers with production experience
- NDA signed on request
- No obligation to continue
Building the wrong prototype costs more than not building one at all
These are the mistakes we see again and again:
- A beautiful model gets built when strength was the thing that needed testing, or the other way round.
- The material is chosen on price rather than on what actually needs to be tested.
- Five things are packed into one prototype, and it answers none of them.
- A full version is funded before the one genuinely risky component has been tested.
Exactly what you get
-
A definition of what the prototype tests
One clear question it has to answer, instead of an attempt to cover everything.
-
Technology and material selection
What suits the goal we defined, not what is convenient or in stock.
-
The right order of stages
What to build first, what can wait and what is unnecessary at this point.
-
A cost and time estimate
So you know what to prepare for before you start.
How it works
-
1
Tell us about the product
No file needed. It is enough to explain what it is meant to do and for whom.
-
2
The consultation
An engineer goes through the goals, the constraints and the risks with you.
-
3
You leave with a direction
You know exactly what to build, from what and why, and you can carry on with us or on your own.
A good fit if
- You are at the beginning
- You have an idea but no design yet
- You are not sure what to test first
- You would rather not waste the first budget
Less of a fit if
-
You already know exactly what to build
You can go straight to a rapid prototype.

You need a prototype that really works
A functional prototype is the next step.

-
You need engineering support over time
An engineering sprint gives far more than a conversation.

Frequently asked questions
I am not an engineer - is this for me?
Absolutely. A large share of enquiries come from founders with no engineering background, and the conversation is built to explain things in plain language.
Do I have to continue with you after the consultation?
No. The direction you get is yours, and you can execute it with any supplier.
Is my idea protected?
Yes. We sign an NDA on request - mention it when you get in touch and we will send it before the call.
What if it turns out the idea is not realistic?
We will tell you so directly, and explain what is possible instead. Better to find out in a conversation than after the money has gone in.
